    Vasco has significant interdisciplinary research experience in algal-plant biology and microbiology. He holds BSc and MSc degrees in Marine Biology from the Università Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy), and a PhD in Marine Sciences and Engineering from the Università degli studi di Napoli ‘Federico II’ and Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Napoli (Italy). After graduating, Vasco was a postdoctoral research assistant for 10 years, spending 8 years as a Leverhulme Trust postdoctoral researcher in the Biochemistry Department at Queen Mary University of London (UK). Over the years, he mainly studied the working principles, design and molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis regulation in algae and plants. Vasco joined the BMC Series in October 2022 as Associate Editor for BMC Plant Biology, BMC Microbiology and BMC Biotechnology. He is based in the Springer Nature’s London office.
