    She is a singer and teacher who was a founding member of the group The Manhattan Transfer.   She was with the ensemble from 1972 to 1978, recording five albums with them, but she had to leave them following a serious car accident that required two years of convalescence.

    In 1981/2 she took up her solo career and has toured the United States and Europe and released several solo albums.  She has appeared at many prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall,Caesar’s Palace, The London Palladium, Woodstock, the Hollywood Bowl and has appeared on many occasions on television and radio broadcasts that include the monthly The Laurel Masse Jazz Show.

    As a teacher she is a member of the faculty of The Cabaret Conference at Yale as well as holding masterclasses in song interpretation and improvisation.  In 2004 she was awarded the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs Lifetime Achievement Award along with the other members of The Manhattan Transfer.

Fed up, Massé took control of her career and has spent decades singing jazz, folk, blues, pop, pop standards, traditional hymns and spirituals, earning comparison to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.
