PERSONAL DATA: Originally from Montreal, Canada. Married to Chantal Caviness, M.D., Ph.D. They have two children, Natasha and Dimitri. His mother, Shari Chamitoff, and brother, Ken Chamitoff, live in Southern California. His father was the late Ashley Chamitoff. His recreational interests include scuba diving, backpacking, flying, skiing, Aikido, magic, guitar and chess. Dr. Chamitoff is a certified divemaster and instrument-rated pilot.

Canadian born engineer and NASA astronaut (born )
Gregory Errol Chamitoff (born 6 August ) is a Canadian-born American engineer and former NASAastronaut. He has been to space twice, spending 6 months aboard the ISS across Expedition 17 and 18 in , and another 15 days as part of STS in STS was the last of Space Shuttle Endeavour which delivered the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer and completed the US Orbital Segment.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Chamitoff was born 6 August in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was inspired to become an astronaut after watching the Apollo 11 Moon landing at the age of six.[2]
